Description:
The elegant figures of a Li (a mythical
dragon-like creature) and a red bat rest on the rim of this brush
washer. Both figures are in excellent condition, which is unusual
and definitely a rare find. The surface of the brush washer is
hand-painted with pictures of beautiful ladies playing musical
instruments and having a nice game of chess & etc . The painting
is detailed and nice. If you were to buy a Chinese scroll painting
of such quality, it would cost many times more.
In the inner wall of the brush washer,
there are 2 firecracks of about 7cm in length, which is not visible
from the outside. There are 2 areas of peel offs on the mouth rim,
most probably due to manufacturing faults. The glaze of the inner
wall still remains greenish, bearing the trace of Late Qing's style.
The glaze is 95% perfect. No major crack. No restoration. It rings
when struck.
